Her arm that had been outstretched with the light saber slowly fell back to her side as she stepped closer towards him.

She had so many questions, and Rey knew he was the one who would have the answers. Whether or not he willingly shared them was up to, well, him.

"I heard your voice before I knew it belonged to you."

Luke shook his head, eyes sad.

"I should have been there for you," he said. "You shouldn't have had to wonder."

Rey had only come to terms with the fact that she was able to sense and use the force, but the fact that Luke had just more or less confirmed it...

"How long have you known?"

"Always." The answer is instant, direct, though the cost is written in his eyes. "My regret is that it wasn't safe for you to be associated with me." Luke's head tilts, watching her, reading the signs. He's not ignorant of the fact that one of his closest friends is now dead. The flare in the Force when Han had been killed was not something he could ignore, and he mourned the loss as a friend as well as one who considered himself partially responsible.

He allows himself, and Rey, a slight smile. Because it's a reunion much longed for, no matter the circumstances.

"I am so, so sorry."
